The BTEC Council's COVID 19 Updated Response
The BTEC Council is committed to providing access to the BTL1 Certificate Program as a credentialing mechanism for behavior technicians. We will work with providers, professionals and the behavior technicians themselves to ensure this program is accessible for onboarding new hires, training and credentialing existing staff at lower costs. Since the BTL1 is entirely accessible online this is an option to keep everyone safe.
We will be adding a lesson on telehealth so all behavior technicians will have standardized information on our new normal. Contact us at [email protected] for information. We will work with each provider to develop a plan that works within each providers needs and resources.
The BTEC Council has compiled a list of COVID 19 Resources and FAQs for ABA Providers, Professionals and Behavior Technicians as it relates to our field and services we delivery to those with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related disabilities.

Why the BTEC is changing the way credentialing works

The internationally available Behavior Technician Education and Credentialing Council says it all. The BTEC Council oversees the ANSI Accredited Behavior Technician Level One (BTL1) Certificate Program. The BTL1 is a credential that goes that step further and incorporates nationally accredited, properly standardized training and education and competency testing in this credentialing certificate program.
By creating a credential that both trains, competency tests and credentials, a Behavior Technician in a single process, it saves significant critical resources and gets your Behavior Technicians work ready within as short a period as two weeks from hire with an intensive education and on the job training program. Shorter times to job readiness means treatment continuity, establishment of strong clinical teams, and stakeholder satisfaction, while establishing a sound baseline of knowledge upon which to build for this ABA workforce which is a vital link in Autism and ABA Treatment
Furthermore, thanks to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation, the BTEC is a legally defensible certificate program that provides additional security for all stakeholders.

Why an Assessment-Based Certificate Program?
Assessment-Based Certificate programs help build capacity in an industry, emerging profession or specialty area. In addition, when there is an ongoing learning gap to fulfill a role or become workforce ready, an Assessment-Based Certificate program is better suited to address this gap. Finally, when highly specialized knowledge or skills are required for a particular job or role, a well-designed training program with learning outcomes that are aligned to the assessment can help confirm attainment of the requisite skills or competencies.
